It was nine months in the making, but one Superstar makes big return after injury on the June 19th RAW.
The return had been teased a little bit in recent weeks, most notably perhaps by his former NXT partner turned bitter rival, Johnny Gargano.
But yes, on this week’s RAW, Tommaso Ciampa made a big return after taking months off to have surgery and rehab.
Leading up to the show, the big draws involved Seth Rollins’ open challenge, and Logan Paul’s return.
But there was a growing buzz that Monday might be Ciampa’s return, and we were not disappointed.
Superstar Makes Big Return After Injury
The show opened with an aborted open challenge as Finn Balor attacked Seth Rollins.
Then, The Miz came out and issued his own open challenge…which was greeted by a returning Tommaso Ciampa.
Of course, the last time we saw him, he was working with The Miz.
It did not take long for us to know that he was no longer on his side.
A few minutes later and Ciampa was victorious. It is good to have the former NXT Champion back.
Now, it could get quite interesting too. Remember, I said that Ciampa’s return has been teased.
A while back, right after the draft, we had ourselves an “impromptu” reunion of former NXT faction The Way.
Leader of The Way? Johnny Gargano.
Is NXT Champion Returning Soon
And Gargano simply said something to the effect of “he’ll be back soon”.
Fans the world over read between the lines and believed the “he” was Ciampa, and that it might also finally mean we could get a DIY reunion.
After all, when last Ciampa was in WWE…Gargano was not.
And, Triple H was not running things.
Now Gargano is back, Triple H is in charge, and Ciampa has returned and is healthy.
So…could we run it back with DIY on the main roster?
