AEW is down one of their biggest stars in Kenny Omega. Everything seemed to be going normal about a month ago.

He had been teaming with Chris Jericho and they even earned a title shot. The match was booked, but then Omega sent a video out.

Omega was in a hospital bed and told fans he was sick. He did not provide many details, but the information quickly became public and Tony Khan confirmed the news too.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed he is yet to undergo surgery.

”Regarding Kenny Omega’s health, due to the inflammation being so bad, he couldn’t have surgery at the time and as of last week still hadn’t had it,” said Meltzer.

“The decision will be made in about 7 weeks, based on his healing, on whether he’ll need surgery or not.”

“But if he does, that would put him out of action significantly longer. There is no time frame on when he will return at this point.”

Diverticulitis is painful and can lead to death if not treated. It will take months of healing, so a return inside the ring is far off.

Hopefully, after the surgery, Omega can return. Although, he might be extra cautious around the stomach area.

Not long before illness, AEW re-signed Omega and The Elite. Those deals should be for anywhere from three to five years.

The Elite made the decision together to stay in AEW. They had plenty of interest from other promotions, including WWE and TNA.
