Last night’s AEW Dynamite marked Chris Jericho’s first live appearance on the show since sexual misconduct allegations surfaced online. Looks like the promotion was prepared to face the worst, as they had a “backup” plan to deal with the crowd’s negative reaction to the wrestling star.
AEW Uses Chris Jericho’s Music To Drown Out Reaction
Chris Jericho has had an awkward start to 2024. Sexual misconduct allegations against former AEW talent Kylie Rae and him have surfaced online, and he’s been dealing with a ton of fan backlash.
During the media presser after the Worlds End pay-per-view (PPV), AEW President Tony Khan slightly addressed the online rumors about Jericho. At the time, he stated he couldn’t speak to the “internet and unsourced” allegations.
Khan did note (and tout) the overall safe environment the company provides to all talent. Jericho hasn’t addressed these allegations, as of this writing.
Still, during this week’s Dynamite, Jericho’s first live appearance on the show since the scandal hit, some fans revealed which side of this issue they are on. Chris swung in, to even the odds for Sammy Guevara as he battled both Big Bill and Ricky Starks.
While Jericho came in for the big save, AEW played his theme music throughout the segment. This appeared to help drown any noise from the crowd, which may have been a negative response to Chris’s arrival.
He is a babyface, after all. However, in light of these allegations, that momentum might be fading.

Bodyslam.net’s Cassidy Hayes reported this week that Jericho was knocked out by current WWE star, MVP, during his 2020 Rock N’ Wrestling Rager Sea – Part Deux: Second Wave. It looks like Jericho is having a hard go in 2024, so far.
Still, things may look up for him. He’s teaming up with Guevara this Saturday during the Battle of the Belts event to snag the AEW Tag Team titles.
Will they be successful? Only time will tell.
