MJF was injured heading into AEW Full Gear and following his match with Jay White, the World Champion is not doing great.

MJF Injury Worse Than Originally Thought After AEW Full Gear

Once again, MJF pulled double duty for AEW. At Full Gear, MJF retained the ROH Tag Team Championship on the pre-show and then kept his AEW World Championship to close the pay per view.

Going into the match, the champion was legitimately injured. And, after the main event with Jay White, he apparently walked away with even more damage

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted MJF had already aggravated his shoulder before the match and a particular spot made the injury worse.

MJF legit suffered a dislocated hip during the match as well as aggravated a prior shoulder injury,” the report stated. “The hip injury took place when he was planning to do the spot where you come off the top rope and fly far, ending with an elbow drop putting your opponent through a table.”

“However, when he put [Jay] White on the table, it collapsed. Instead of just ditching the spot.”

“He felt that the crowd was going to flatten if he didn’t do the spot.”

“He climbed up to the top rope and did an elbow drop from the top rope to the floor, which is an absolute killer on your hip. It was popped back in, but he was in terrible pain. The shoulder injury worsened from a top rope.”

Upon the show concluding, MJF was visibly in tears during the press conference. It is unknown if those were tears of pain or if he was selling the match.

In the past 12 months, MJF has remained AEW World Champion and also turned face in the process. He is expected to remain with AEW, with many thinking he already re-signed.
