Most fans knew this when his return was announced, but John Cena has an expiration date.

Or rather, his most recent full-time run with WWE, brief though it may be, will not go on forever.

This very point was again driven home following his appearance at Saturday’s PLE, Fastlane.

Cena and other part-time WWE Superstars (looking at you, Rock) have been able to appear in large part because of the simultaneous Hollywood writers and actors strikes.

These strikes have left many on the picket lines, but some have looked for alternative work in the quiet time (Like, say, Batista).

The writer’s strike just recently got settled, leaving just the actor’s strike in play.

But, to that end…

John Cena Has An Expiration Date

Specifically, once the SAG-AFTRA strike ends, Cena confirmed that he would head back to Hollywood and his run with WWE would come to an end.

His answer was quite diplomatic, and a little bit funny all things considered.

Funny, because when he and The Rock had some of their best matches of their rivalry, Cena was taking shots at The Rock’s part-time status because, you know, Dwayne Johnson is a movie star.

And now…Cena gets it, and is doing the same thing.

But as Cena said, he has many people depending on him in Hollywood. If he isn’t there making his next project, there are many people who would be in a bad spot because of him.

And, if he tried to do both Hollywood and WWE, he could be putting fellow Superstars at risk because he was not “all in” for that.

Something else to consider with those comments…

The Rock recently confirmed that he was in talks to appear for WrestleMania 39, but things didn’t happen.

But more important, he was on board with giving it another shot at WrestleMania 40.

Now, when he made those comments, he did not offer any sort of conditions, such as “If the strikes are still ongoing”.

He simply said he would be up for it…which makes one wonder…no matter the status of the strike, has The Rock made sure he has April open?
