No beating around this one, as The Rock makes huge return on SmackDown.

That’s right, the starving actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson tucked his tail and ran back to WWE due to being out of work.

OK, I am kidding with all the snark, but Johnson, an amazingly popular WWE legend and actor, is available to WWE because of the ongoing Hollywood strike.

That is, of course, the same reason why we are now getting a steady dose of John Cena.

Speaking of Cena, perhaps he spoiled things a bit with this post earlier on Friday?

Truly, the bigger spoiler was seeing Pat McAfee and The Rock on Pat’s show…in Colorado.

Fightful covered that, noting that a show staffer stated that both men would be at tonight’s show.

With that information, many fans expected nothing. Like, maybe the duo would meet friends backstage and say hi.

We got a lot more than that.

You can see from the above post that Rock smiled as that crowd popped.

Or, listen to it here.

Now, the craziest thing is…this is how the first show of WWE’s new ownership group kicked off.

The merger is complete, and collectively WWE and Endeavor are now TKO.

And, this was the first show following the merger. Not that this fact drove any of what happened on this week’s SmackDown…but it certainly didn’t hurt.

How and where things get even more interesting is that The Rock confirmed that there were extensive talks about a Reigns/Rock match at WrestleMania 39.

And…that he’s open to actually making it happen in Philadelphia for WrestleMania 40.

A lot of that is contingent on the writers strike, because if that ends in the next couple months, The Rock will suddenly find himself with a lot less time for WWE.

Time will tell if this was a one-off, or if there’s more to come.
