Carmelo Hayes could be headed to either RAW or SmackDown in near future, as WWE is apparently getting ready to bring him up from NXT to the main roster.
Carmelo Hayes Being Prepared For Main Roster WWE Debut
Before appearing on the main roster, almost everyone has to at least appear in the Performance Center and NXT. There are a few exceptions, like if someone is already a huge name such as AJ Styles.
The past few years have seen NXT get completely redone. In the past, the brand had new wrestlers and others who spent years getting over on the Indy scene. Nowadays, mostly everyone there is somewhat new as they have yet to gain attention from fans.
WWE likes to bring in classes of new wrestlers. One of the new classes saw some future players in Bron Breaker and Carmelo Hayes. Both seem set for major things on the main roster when WWE finally pulls the trigger.
BWE, which has been breaking some backstage stories, noted how WWE is impressed with Carmelo Hayes. In fact, there is talk of bringing him to either RAW or SmackDown to begin a major program.
Carmelo Hayes was the North American Champion twice in NXT, with both reigns combined equaling 273 days. This a record, but Wes Lee can top that number in 30 days.
At Stand & Deliver 2023, Hayes pinned Breaker to capture the NXT Championship. He has defended the title numbers times, including against a now heel Breaker.
Hayes is currently set to defend his title opposite Baron Corbin. While Corbin does not seem like a threat to the gold, once Hayes drops it, then a switch the main roster seems even more likely. Typically, WWE prefers a NXT wrestler putting someone over on the brand before heading to the main roster.
So, is it time for Carmelo Hayes to join the main roster or does he need a little more time in NXT?
