At one time, JBL was a wrestler. He struggled in single’s competition until being paired with Ron Simmons. Together, they created the very popular team, The APA. They were known for drinking beer, smoking cigars, playing cards and beating up people who tried to ruin thier fun. Eventually, WWE dropped the team with JBL once again being a singles wrestler.

Although, this time was very different. He put on a suit and began enjoying the life of the wealthy. Not long after, he won the WWE Championship from Eddie Guerrero. He remained a top heel for WWE until his back could not take anymore. While not forced into retirement, there were not many options left. WWE added him to the commentary table where he became a regular feature on SmackDown.

During a recent interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, JBL spoke about another WWE run. “Of course,” said JBL. “But there’s not a spot, and these guys do great jobs. So I’m not looking for a job. I don’t want that repeated, but these guys do great jobs. You have great commentators right now. Joe Tessitore is doing a great job, he’s a play by play, but you have Corey Graves, Wade Barrett. These guys do an incredible job.”

He is correct how WWE has plenty of names at the various desks. Traveling with WWE is no easy task, even for those who call the action ringside. WWE has plenty of names they can contract to fill that role, who are also more in-touch with the current roster.

Despite not wrestling, JBL has been appearing at random Indy shows. Basically, he appears unannounced and leaves after whispering something into the ears of the wrestlers. Clearly, something is going on and only a few people actually know. So, should JBL make a WWE return at the commentary desk?
