It seems like Goldberg vs Gunther is on WWE’s radar, leading to a call for the former WCW wrestler to work in NXT to remove ring rust.

At Bad Blood, WWE brought in a bunch of legends from the past. It felt like they were there for the nostalgia. Then, things took an intersting turn as Triple H introduced a new title and Gunther appeared. The World Heavyweight Champion tossed shade at Goldberg, who was ringside. It resulted in security separating the two before anything got too physical.
As of now, WWE has not confirmed those two will wrestle. Although, they did not run such an angle without a reason. If a match is booked, Teddy Long wants Goldberg to spend time in NXT due to ring rust. “They should’ve had Goldberg go down to NXT and work out for a couple of weeks,” said Long on The Wrestling Time Machine. “Two or three weeks, get the rust off of him and work with Shawn Michaels and some of those guys down there. Then, I think you’ll have a good match with Goldberg and Gunther.”
Goldberg Would Probably Pass On NXT
To get his point across, Long used Goldberg’s match with The Undertaker as an example. That had to be one of the worst wresting matches ever produced. Goldberg suffered a concussion a minute in and The Undertaker almost landed on his neck at the end. Both looked horrible in the match and neither superstar was proud of the work.
Seeing how bad that went and the negative comments Goldberg has made about Vince McMahon in the past, maybe he wants to produce one more match before calling it a career. I do see Gunther and Goldberg having a match before WrestleMania 41. Otherwise, the entire Bad Blood angle would make no sense. So, if WWE does book the match, do you think Goldberg would benefit from a few weeks in NXT?
