Gunther certainly looks like World Championship material and he just earned major praise from The Undertaker for being ‘his guy.’

We know at SummerSlam, Gunther will be challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship. He earned that opportunity by winning the King of the Ring tournament. First, we have Money in the Bank where either Damien Priest or Seth Rollins will leave the victor and then face Gunther in early August.
When it comes to fans, Gunther seems well liked by the audience despite being a heel. Also, he got a major endorsement from The Undertaker. “Gunther’s my guy,” said The Undertaker to Chris Van Vliet. “Two years ago, he had about a 10-minute conversation with my little boy. My little boy is fascinated by him. They had a conversation, out of the clear blue, and he sat there and just talked to him. That’s not why he’s my guy […] He’s my guy because he knows how to work, and tell a story. Yeah, I’m really high on him.”
Gunther Already Made History In WWE Several Times
And, the WWE Hall of Famer is spot-on. Gunther has only lost in WWE a few times; which includes time in NXT UK, NXT and the main roster. If my memory is correct, Ilja Dragunov, Bron Breakker and Sami Zayn are the only wrestlers to pin him. During that time, Gunther was NXT United Kingdom Champion for 870 days and Intercontinental Champion for 666 days. Nobody comes close to topping either record set by the German.
Yes, it is time for WWE to put the top prize on Gunther. All he produces are great matches and that leave his opponent battered. He listens well to management and stays out of trouble. Plus, The Undertaker had nothing but positive words. So, is The Undertaker calling Gunther ‘his guy’ enough to push the former Intercontinental Champion to the top?
