There has been a lot of talk about this tag team, and now might we have some possible clarity on the Street Profits WWE status?

There has been a lot of talk about the Street Profits in recent weeks. So, here is some more.

Recent rumors have covered ideas from whether or not the duo should or would break up, to their contract status and if they might be done with WWE soon.

Despite those rumors, according to several sources such as Fightful, the Profits are “locked in” to WWE for the near term at least.

Based on what is now making rounds, it sounds as though Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins factor into WWE plans for quite a bit. Nothing has been said to confirm (or deny) any contract extensions.

What we do seem to be getting from the pair is a bit of art imitating life. Embellished, perhaps, but I think there remains some truth to what we are seeing.

On this past edition of SmackDown, the Street Profits had a tag title shot against the Motor City Machine Guns. It was ruined when Tommaso Ciampa came out and snapped, turning himself heel in the process (most likely).

But after Ciampa left, we still had the Profits and Guns in the ring, and Dawkins wasn’t happy that they tried to make nice. The slap was not friendly, and the duo are letting some pent up frustration out.

I do believe the frustration is real. We’ve seen much less decorated teams hold the gold more recently. Ford expressed his frustration almost two years ago, around his long-rumored singles push that has not materialized.

WWE did try to turn them before, but at the time, it didn’t click. Now, perhaps, it will. If done well, the heel turn could be exception, and beneficial. And perhaps lead to the eventual singles push, despite concern for what might happen with Dawkins. Then again, perhaps WWE adds a third to the group, allowing for both singles and tag matches? We’ve seen that before to great success.
