We are learning Melina attempted suicide after she was berated online for her relationship with Dave Batista.
Melina Attempted Suicide Over Criticism Of WWE Relationship
In pro wrestling, it is not uncommon for someone to be on the road for around 300 days. As a result, many wrestlers miss those special moments amongst their friends and family.
Often, wrestlers do end up dating. When you are near the same person for so long, it is almost inevitable.
Back in the mid-2000s, Batista was one of the top superstars of WWE. On the women’s side, that division was going through changes as Lita and Trish Stratus began to depart.
Melina debuted to WWE fans as the manager for MNM.
Eventually, the two friends became much more. They started to date once Batista’s marriage was over.
During this time, Melina was also going out with Johnny Nitro (who would then continue to wrestle under many different names). At one point, Melina and Nitro were an item.
It did not last and Melina was linked to Batista for a bit. WWE even indicated the two were hooking-up to further develop storylines.
For whatever reason, Melina took lots of flack from people for dating the future WWE Hall of Famer. Naturally, nobody seemed to care to comment about Batista dating a fellow wrestler.
Melina took to Twitter to address the rumor. We then learned that Melina attempted suicide back then because of what was being said.
After departing from MNM, Melina had a successful singles run. She captured the WWE Women’s Championship three times and the Divas Championship twice.
Following her WWE release in 2011, Melina continued to work occasionally. She did make a few appearances for WWE like RAW Reunion and the 2022 Royal Rumble. She even worked for Impact Wrestling within the last 12 months.
Thankfully, after Melina attempted suicide, she seems to be in a better place now.
