When AEW started, they had the main three titles. Then, they went overboard and brought in so may belts, it takes nearly two full hands to count.
One of those was the TBS Championship, which Jade Cargill won and held for a record 508 days. It is the longest AEW title reign, which ended at Double Nothing.
Brutal Double Or Nothing Attendance?
Kris Statlander, who was away for 10 months because of a torn ACL and lateral meniscus, made a surprise appearance after Cargill’s win. Statlander answered an impromptu challenge after Cargill just retained. Now, Statlander is the second person to hold the TBS Championship.
Statlander has been highly praised backstage as she is well liked and for her talent inside the ring. Many were happy to to see her finally win an AEW belt.
According to a recent report from Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, a Jade Cargill break is expected. And when she returns, there will be a “personality shift down the road.”
Now word on how long Cargill will be off TV, but she earned a break. She may return as a babyface compared to her heel antics after appearing untouchable.
Honestly, the title change was overdue. Cargill beat all the challengers, but AEW made sure to keep certain top names away from her.
Now, upon returning, Cargill should be able to mingle with competitors she never fought. Remember, WWE passed on hiring her, which seems like a major mistake.
Cargill is still new to the business, but has improved dramatically in two years. So, a a few more years and she could be considered one of the top female pro wrestlers in any organization.
