After we witnessed the improbable, now we can talk about this: CM Punk returns to a WWE ring in MSG.
On December 26th, WWE held its annual holiday tour show at New York’s famous Madison Square Garden.
Punk returned to the WWE fold just over a month ago. First arriving at the very tail end of the 2023 edition of Survivor Series, he had not yet gotten physical for WWE.
That all changed on Tuesday evening.
Inside MSG, in front of a packed house, CM Punk wrestled for WWE, a first match in basically a decade.
While it seems like it should be so mundane, it was anything but..

Punk’s return to wrestling was announced ahead of the holiday tour stop in New York.
And, his opponent deserves some credit too. It was decided that the honor of his first match back would be against Dominik Mysterio.
Quite an honor for the younger Superstar, even if you knew he was going to be losing.
Like, seriously, zero chance the Straight Edge Superstar was losing in his return match.
Following the match, WWE actually gave him a live mic to address the crowd.
He thanked everyone for coming and for supporting him. Plus, he noted that when he wins the Rumble and is in the main event at WrestleMania…it isn’t finishing anything for him.
It would be him getting started. Which, if he behaves and things go well?

That is something to be excited for.
To show just how big a deal Tuesday was, Madison Square Garden even gave Punk a gift to commemorate the ocassion.
Sure, it is his second Honeymoon period with the company, but so far, it’s smiles all around.
It seems to be great for CM Punk and business, and as long as things are good, fans benefit (which we are right now).
