WWE is always looking to build the stars of the future. NXT has promising names like Bron Breakker and Tiffany Stratton.
Austin Theory and Grayson Waller also came from NXT. Both did well, but they were never focal points in the main event.
While they are not exact copies of each other, they do have plenty of similarities. In particular, they both are heels who know how to anger the audience.
Now, it is tough to tell who the fans dislike most. Theory has been around longer and was United States Champion for a bit, but people love to hate Waller.
Naturally, WWE tossed them into a tag team as neither had any major programs. So far, they are doing alright in the ring and the fans enjoy booing them.
During a recent Q&A with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, he went over how WWE sees Austin Theory and Grayson Waller and the reasoning for putting them in a team.
“Just completely different views,” said Sapp. “They have always seen Theory and Waller as high upside.”
“I mean, Waller is very easy for them to do business with as well. Listens really well and gets them a lot of buzz when necessary.”
“With Austin Theory, I feel like they kind of saw him in that Baron Corbin role. Where. if somebody’s coming back to do something, he can take the heat from that person and it won’t affect their booking.”
Austin Theory and Grayson Waller have only been teaming for a short time as both seem lost in the mix. Hopefully, they can use their time together to elevate themselves as main event heels.
