We know that his brother is out, but when might Jeff Hardy join Broken Matt as a free agent?

Following his TNA arrival with his Broken Matt persona, one half of one of the greatest tag teams we’ve ever seen was quick to tell us one thing. Even though he was in TNA, he was very much a free agent. What we did not know is what’s going on with brother Jeff. Though the brothers were separated for just a bit, they did reunite in AEW. However, as we all saw, the brothers may have been in AEW, but things really never clicked for them there. Unless AEW manages to convince them to stick around, they will close the books on their AEW run without having held tag team gold within the company.

So, if Matt is free, when might Jeff Hardy join Broken Matt Hardy as a free agent? Well, according to reports, the brothers did what they could to have their contracts line up, even though they came in at different times. Matt’s just expired, so is Jeff far behind? It’s a tricky question, because Jeff Hardy has missed some time due to injury and hiatus. Of course, he (and Matt) also sat off a lot of AEW television just because the company inexplicably could not find something to use them on.

Per Fightful, Jeff has been telling those close to him that his contract should be up this spring. That expiration falls in line with the original timing of his deal. If that holds true, it would seem like Tony Khan is letting the veteran go without being too petty. That would be a mild surprise. It was reported that Matt Hardy’s deal was extended by a couple weeks, which just so happened to ensure Matt was not available for WrestleMania. Not that WWE would have brought him in. Based on estimated time missed, some had expected AEW could have kept Jeff Hardy under contract until basically 2025. Assuming both brothers become free agents, it will be interesting to see where they land, full time.
