While this week’s SmackDown was winding down, there was some breaking news as WWE releases Jinder Mahal, Xia Li and Xyon Quinn. It is possible that there could eventually be more, but as of just about 11PM on Friday the 19th of April, we know of just these three names.
All three Superstar releases were confirmed via Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.
The biggest name on the list, of course, is Jinder Mahal. The former modern day Maharaja is a former WWE champion as well as a former member of 3MB. Most recently, he was serving as a manager for Indus Sher. With the WWE release of Jinder Mahal, you can’t help but wonder if those two may be among the next to go.
Jinder did at least kind of go out with a bang. He went from being off television, to being on WWE programming face to face with The Rock. Mix in an unwarranted Tony Khan rib, and it was certainly an interesting 2024 for him. But, all good things come to an end, and he’s gone. He posted to his X account that he quit, and adjusted his bio to reflect that his 90 day no-compete is now ticking.
Who Else?
Joining Mahal are Xia Li and Xyon Quinn. Li is someone WWE had high hopes for, being a big Chinese talent. Unfortunately, she never gained any traction and fizzled out. Quinn. represents someone who came in to a bit of fanfare due to his size and athletic talents. He worked fine in NXT, but his injury derailed things. Most recently, he was jobbed out to Bron Breakker.

With the draft about to kick off, it is worth wondering if we might see some other names let go. There are certainly a few logical options. If any are released over the weekend, you can be sure we will cover it here.
