Reports have surfaced with more details surrounding Andrade El Idolo’s AEW exit and potential WWE return, which is seeming on the horizon.
Details On Andrade El Idolo Leaving AEW
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Andrade’s AEW contract was for two years, but it was extended because of injury time off. For those who recall, he debuted in the company in June 2021.
As per the report, he’s been open about his agreement ending. He had originally planned to stay with All Elite Wrestling, but as the end of his time drew near, he told others he was headed to the WWE.
According to some AEW sources, many believed he would make his splashing WWE return the week after he departed from All Elite Wrestling. In addition, Tony Khan said he was open to the talent coming back, but sources who work closely with El Idolo note that the process was frustrating for him, and he was clear he wanted to finish things up.
Details On Andrade El Idolo Returning To The WWE
The Fightful report states the star does have a deal with the WWE. It’s also being reported that his wife, Charlotte Flair, pushed for his return to the company.
It’s interesting to note that WWE sources have not confirmed his return. However, others do say it’s likely he’ll come back.
Andrade requested his WWE release in early March 2021. While it was first denied, it was granted on March 21st of that year.
During his initial six-year run with the WWE, the star created a tremendous impact. He entered NXT in 2015 and would become NXT Champion in 2017.
He and then-manager Zelina Vega entered the main roster in 2018. Andrade enjoyed a variety of high-profile feuds and had a solid run with the United States title.
