Andrade El Idolo could be leaving AEW pretty soon and while there are options out there, is a return to WWE even possible?

Andrade El Idolo Leaving AEW For WWE?

When Andrade El Idolo arrived in WWE, there was hope he could be the next big Latin America wrestler like Rey Mysterio. He did well in NXT, but the main roster saw him struggle to get out of mid-card status.

Eventually, he wanted out and WWE granted the release. In a move many saw coming, Andrade would sign with AEW.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted how Andrade’s future within AEW is unclear. He has not decided on what is next, but returning to WWE is an option.

“My impression is that it’s up relatively soon,” said Meltzer. “He’s not made a decision on what he’s doing next.”

“He’s not signed a new deal. But if he does go to WWE, he knows he can’t go back to Arena Mexico.”

Meltzer continued how Andrade could be briefly going to CMLL. On Friday’s show, they teased him being there.

Also, he has apparently spoken to AAA. It seems working for those promotions would be more about goals than money.

“Even though CMLL’s drawing big crowds, there’s no real money being paid by CMLL,” said Meltzer. “And, Andrade actually charges a lot for his appearances in Mexico.”

“So, I think it’s just something that he wants to do. He wanted to go back [to CMLL] in case he ends up going to WWE.”

It seems very unlikely WWE would let Andrade work anywhere else if he was under contract with them. AEW is a little more open to those kind of things.

Andrade knows two people very well from both companies. His wife, Charlotte Flair, is part of WWE and his father in law, Ric Flair, recently joined AEW.

Also, because Andrade missed time due to injuries, AEW could always add dates to his deal. We are seeing that pattern happen more frequently as of late in WWE and AEW.
