A man no stranger to retiring, will Bryan Danielson wrestle his last match soon?

Ever since he landed in AEW, for one reason or another, talk about his eventual last match has popped up.

While with WWE, Danielson of course did endure a premature retirement due to injury.

He remained involved as much as he could. At the same time, he never gave up hope that he’d be able to recover and be cleared.

As we know, he did recover and he was cleared, making a big return to the WWE ring.

However, when his contract with WWE ran out, the two sides never struck a new deal, with Danielson opting to head to AEW and work with some new faces.

That was nearly three years ago now.

His time with AEW has unfortunately had some injury issues. Still, he’s remained involved and has become a trusted person to Tony Khan.

And Khan, being interviewed by the Athletic, recounted his conversation with the American Dragon when that AEW contract was inked.

Per that conversation, the AEW boss confirmed that Danielson entered his AEW contract with the intention that it would be his final one as a full-time wrestler.

As Khan put it, his match at next year’s All In (assuming he has no injuries preventing it from happening) would be Danielson’s final one as a full-timer.

That could be a bit of a confusing statement.

It does not equal a retirement. If anything, it indicates that Danielson is expected to transition into a more “special attraction” role, not unlike what Sting has been.

Or, like Edge or Brock Lesnar in WWE.

But, here’s a fair question…

Nothing has been announced to indicate any contract extension, so unless that happens, Danielson would be a free agent again in 2024.

And, a lot has changed with his former employer.

Khan is so certain that Danielson will be around…but will he?

The lure of working with Triple H could be strong.

Or, he will stick to AEW, swayed by how the company has recently handled his wife and sister in law.

A WWE return might be a long shot…but at one point, people were beyond certain that we’d never see CM Punk in WWE again…and we have.
