There are a couple different stories circulating, but all we really want to know is…why is Sami Zayn missing time?

Last we saw our hero, he was getting beaten down by Drew McIntyre as the former champion begins to accelerate his heel story.

We had been told that this was a simple time when a Superstar requested time off. Some might even call it a sabbatical.

Now, there may be some doubt to that.

The company’s official line is that Zayn is going to be out indefinitely due to a partially torn meniscus and the resulting surgery and rehab.

According to the Wrestling Observer…maybe that is true.

Why Is Sami Zayn Missing Time?

While Meltzer is not exactly 100% reliable, there could be something to this.

Initially, per the report, all signs pointed to Zayn wanting a chunk of time off.

After the run he has had, both with and against the Bloodline? I can’t say I blame him, and he’s certainly deserved it.

The injury could just be storyline driven, as WWE quite often likes to write off the top talents in order to explain any prolonged absence.

And in this case, while Meltzer was not yet able to confirm injury or vacation. One thing he seems very confident on is that of Zayn missing extended time.

As much of a pro as Zayn is, I have some thoughts on that.

Either he is legit beat up and nursing injuries and just needs to heal.

Or, he could be burned out and need to step away and recharge.

And for all we know, it’s an entirely different reason entirely.

What I will suspect is that whatever has taken Sami from WWE for now, it’s legit and important.

After all he’s done, and at his spot on the roster, I just can’t see him missing the Road to WrestleMania.

Unless, of course, in this instance, “significant” time winds up being a few weeks, and Zayn returns at the Rumble.
