Sami Zayn has been on a major role since leaving The Bloodline, but now he has requested WWE grant him a hiatus.
Sami Zayn Request WWE Hiatus
On RAW, Sami Zayn and Drew McIntyre were given plenty of time on the mic and inside the ring. After the bout, McIntyre continued to focus on Zayn’s knee.
And, that was done for a particular reason. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted how RAW’s Sami Zayn requested time-off and WWE obliged.
The decision does not seem to have been made in a rush. Sami was never advertised for the live event on Thursday, December 28.
That show comes from Laval, Quebec. In the past, WWE would have the show heavily featured around someone like Sami or Kevin Owens.
As of now, there is no word on when we could see a return.
The past two years have seen Sami go from conspiracist to member of The Bloodline. Despite being a heel, the fans could not get enough of Sami.
Therefore, WWE had him turn on the stable at the Royal Rumble back in January. It led a match at Elimination Chamber, where Roman Reigns once again left as champion.
Zayn and Owens would then shift their attention to The Usos. For the first time ever, the tag team titles closed WrestleMania.
On night one of WrestleMania 39, Zayn and Owens dethroned The Usos. Their title reign was not the best, ending with The Judgement capturing the gold
Not long after, Owens was traded to SmackDown. Thus, the longtime friends were once agin on different brands.
It is likely Sami does return before WrestleMania 40. There has been no discussion on who he could face at the biggest show of the year.
Yet, Drew McIntyre is clearly a candidate.
So, is Sami Zayn taking a WWE hiatus just as WrestleMania season is starting the right call?
