AEW Women’s tag team titles could be a thing after Tony Khan flirted with the idea at the Worlds End media scrum.
Tony Khan Down For Introducing AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles
AEW would not be a pro wrestling company without titles. Basically, those gold belts are the reasons (along with money) wrestlers risk their health.
‘‘I think it would be great,” said Khan. “We have shown we can expand our programming.”
“Certainly, there’s been some of the best matches and exciting rivalries we’ve ever had in the women’s division in the recent few weeks and months. Absolutely, I think that would be tremendous and it’s something I’m open to doing.”
“There are a lot of great tandems. Some that are active right now.”
“They could be great for that and there are also some that have not teamed for now. I do think there’s a lot of great opportunities in that and it’s certainly something to keep an eye on.”
Simply put, AEW has way too many titles. They have their own, ROH, NJPW and the ones wrestlers created by talent, like the FTW Championship.
At Worlds End, Eddie Kingston won a tournament to be the inaugural AEW Continental Champion. Kingston alone now has three belts across three promotions.
The women’s division in AEW has improved as of late. Still, tweaks are needed when it comes to safety.
WWE has tag team gold, but those belts are jinxed. They have changed hands countless times because of unexpected events.
Maybe, Khan will think twice about adding even more gold.
