Randy Orton goes over the injury that cost him 18 months on the shelf and also has major praise for the now released Matt Riddle.
Randy Orton Gives Matt Riddle Credit, Talks Being Injured
At Survivor Series, fans were present for a pair of special moments. Randy Orton and CM Punk both returned to WWE during the final portion of the show.
Orton had been confirmed for the show earlier in the week. As for Punk returning, that surprised pretty much everyone around.
For 18 months, Orton was out after having double fusion surgery on his back. In fact, many doctors advised him against returning.
Now that he is back, Orton is opening up about the past few years. While speaking on the IMPAULSIVE podcast, Orton credited Matt Riddle for helping him.
“I couldn’t stand for more than a couple of minutes without having pain shoot down my legs,” said Orton. “When I would sit, I would had a disc that was slipping every time I would bend.”
“On a plane, sitting here, my feet would go numb and I would have pain shooting down my legs. It was hard.”
“I was in a tag team with former WWE Superstar Matt Riddle. I got to give him props because that year we tagged together, I was not able to be in that ring unless I was in there with someone like him because he was able to take the brunt of the physicality.”
“If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have made it that far. I had some great doctors.”
“They fixed me up right, they didn’t cut through any muscle which would enable me to get back in the ring. Because once you start cutting muscle, like that’s never gonna heal back [and] you’re done.”
Fans Never Got Randy Orton Vs Matt Riddle
Riddle did not get to see Orton return in-person. He was fired by WWE in late September over several issues finally adding up.
We all know Orton was going to turn on Riddle at some point. If Riddle remains out of trouble, Orton has the power to convince Triple H to bring him back.
