Ronda Rousey made a surprise appearance for Ring of Honor (ROH) and now the latest on her status with AEW.
Ronda Rousey Current Status After Surprise AEW Appearance
Following SummerSlam, Ronda Rousey left WWE and there was little indication of what would be next. Then, she worked an Indy date and it was followed by a surprise ROH match.
In her lone ROH match, Rousey teamed with Marina Shafir to face Athena and Billie Starkz. The purpose of the match was to bring more subscribers to ROH’s streaming platform.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer went over Ronda Rousey and her current status with ROH/AEW.
“So with Ronda, it’s a one-shot deal,” said Meltzer. “Obviously, if Ronda wants to work more, they’ll use her anytime.”
“She was doing a favor for Marina [Shafir]. To help Marina, and you know, that’s that.”
“It could change, but I do not expect — there’s a reason that Ronda wanted to finish. It’s a family reason.”
“These shows that she’s worked have all been in Los Angeles. They’ve all been to team with Marina, so it’s a night out of fun for her.”
“It’s not like she’s on the road or anything like that. She didn’t leave WWE to go to AEW.”
“Stranger things have happened. But certainly the idea when she left WWE was that she was done with wrestling and that she was moving on to the next stage of her life.”
It is unknown what WWE makes of the matter. They invested a lot of time in Rousey, who was always heavily featured.
Her final year in WWE did not go well. Therefore, fans were tired of the same gimmick and Rousey did not seem interested in what was taking place.
So, will Ronda Rousey return to ROH/AEW or was that appearance one and done?
