Adam Copeland, formerly known as “Edge” in the WWE recently conducted an interview where he revealed the original plans the promotion had for him and the Judgement Day faction.

WWE’s Initial Plans For Judgement Day

Copeland was recently on Chris Jericho’s podcast. He offered insight into the original plans for Judgement Day when it was first established.

Adam notes during the interview that the plan was for Finn Balor to join and a year later, for the group to turn on him. However, when Hell in a Cell rolled around, the higher-ups notified him that they were changing the plan and speeding things up.

They advised Copeland that they were pressing the fast-forward button on everything by having Balor join “tomorrow” (at the time) and turning that same day. Adam states that he began to have a realization at that point.

He notes his epiphany centered around the fact that the stable wasn’t going where they needed to go with him around. Copeland goes on to say that “people” know the real story, and that was where Edge tried to “flip” everything and change it overnight.

He points out “cutting his hair”, changing his music, and being in a suit. Adam states that he tried to change everything, but at this stage, it wasn’t what the fans wanted from him.

He goes on to say that the fans wanted to cheer for him, a talent they didn’t get for nine years. This makes complete sense as to why the Judgment Day storyline shifted so quickly.

At the end of the day, it looks like the right call was made. Edge turned back to babyface and had a huge send-off with the company and is now stirring things up in AEW.

Meanwhile, the Judgment Day stable is dominating the WWE as a massive heel faction, with Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, and Finn Balor racking up titles and accolades along the way.
