Sonya Deville Recovery Going Much Slower Than Hoped

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship is seemingly cursed. In the few years the belts have been introduced, we have seen countless title changes.

The promotion looked to finally have two superstars who would be the focal point of the division. They had Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green win the gold back in the middle of July.

Two weeks later and Deville suffered a torn ACL in her knee during a SmackDown match. She underwent surgery and was stripped of the title.

Although, Green was able to keep her belt and Piper Niven forced herself to be the other half of the champions.

Sonya Deville underwent surgery, with a timeframe for a return scheduled between January and April of next year. Although, there seems to be complications.

During a recent Q&A with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, he went over her current status.

Sapp noted how the process is going slower than hoped and means fans might not see Sonya Deville back in a ring until late spring 2024.

Deville is former contest of the 2015 version of Tough Enough. Despite not winning, WWE offered her a deal.

She might be best known for teaming with Mandy Rose and also feuding with her former best friend. Once the feud concluded, Deville was removed from TV as she was dealing with personal issues of a home intruder

After working an authority type role for WWE, she once again began wrestling. She spent most of this year searching for a partner to help challenge for the very title she would eventually claim.
