On the heels of Adam Copeland landing in AEW…is Edge the 1st of many to leave WWE?

While that question is largely speculation, there is something to it.

Copeland arrived during the final segment of Sunday’s WrestleDream PPV, but his arrival could be the first of at least a few WWE alums.

The next few months could be a bit unprecedented for AEW in terms of talent being available and motivated to head to Tony Khan’s company.

We’ve seen released Superstars make that move before, and surely we will see it again after the recent cuts.

But Edge wasn’t a release…his contract expired, and he decided he had nothing left to do in WWE.

And he might not be alone.

According to some reports, Sheamus may be following Edge’s lead.

Ironically, Sheamus wrestled Edge in Copeland’s last WWE match.

There are some indications that the Celtic Warrior has not been thrilled with how he has been booked. This goes back to when he was super over after last years Clash at the Castle.

He had a tremendous match with GUNTHER, and arguably could have (should have) won the title then…but he didn’t, and since that point, he’s been treading water.

On top of that, Sheamus’ contract is one of several big Superstar contracts that is believed to expire soon, but due to the Endeavor purchase process, most new contract work had been on hold.

But, what if Sheamus looks to his friend Adam and what he’s doing in AEW and decides that…maybe he, too, has done all there is for him in WWE.

And if that’s his realization, why wouldn’t he want to explore other options?

After all, you know who the top Superstars are. We know who is being groomed to fill that role in the next few years too.

Sheamus probably isn’t on any of those lists, meaning if he wants new challenges and perhaps new championships…he may not be able to do it in WWE.
