This happens often enough, but one Superstar is dealing with a bad injury.
What makes this worse is that, well, on the heels of those recent releases…his contract is set to expire next year.
Meaning, it does make you wonder if the injury and subsequent lack of availability might translate into WWE letting him go rather than bringing him back.
But…this is all speculation for now.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Sheamus is dealing with a bad shoulder injury, which is the main reason we have not seen him around with Butch and Ridge the Fridge in recent weeks.
Superstar Is Dealing With A Bad Injury
Beyond the Meltzer report, details are thus far thin on the severity of the injury or how long the Celtic Warrior could be out.
We don’t know yet if the former world champion had to have surgery, or if he’s missing an extended chunk of time now in the hopes that rest will allow him to recover.
The last match we saw him work was, of course, a banger as you’d expect.
It may have also been Edge’s farewell to WWE, as it was the final match on his expiring WWE contract…at a time where speculation of him joining AEW is at an all time high.
As for Sheamus, with his contract running out next year, and on the heels of a rash of releases last week, it isn’t hard to wonder where he fits in the grand scheme of things.
A lot of the recent cuts were made due to talent not working enough, as in…no plans for them now or in the future.
That much doesn’t seem to describe Sheamus. But, it’s something to keep in mind.
For now, my own speculation is…depending on how bad it might be, could we not see Sheamus again until the 2024 Royal Rumble?
