Simple theme for this SmackDown In A Nutshell, as the roster starts moving on after Thursday.

Surely it was one of the most up and down Thursdays for many.

On one hand, WWE is returning SmackDown to the USA Network upon the expiration of their FOX deal. And, it was not for a paltry sum.

And then, same day, we saw quite a few WWE Superstars get released. From unknown NXT talents, all the way up to former world champion Dolph Ziggler.

For all we know, WWE is not yet done…but for now, it’s time to focus on the task at hand.

Let’s be honest…after last week’s epic show with one amazing Rock of a return...this show is going to have a tough time following up.

But, follow up it shall, so…

Moving On After Thursday : SmackDown In A Nutshell

Lets crack open this Nutshell and see what happens!

Best Match of the night:

We have two choices. Two very good choices.

And either one of these SHOULD have been in the main event slot.

I personally would have put Sky and Asuka in the main event…nice chance to elevate the title, and it was a really good match.

Or, you know, Waller and Theory beating Butch and Ridge, which was really good, far better than you’d have expected.

Worst match of the night:

Honestly? Nothing.

Only had a few matches, and all served a purpose.

Crowd Chants of the Night:

Good crowd, no chants.

Star of the Night

Lots to choose from.

Good stuff in the women’s title match.

And the men’s tag.

Solo, Jimmy and John Cena did good too.

Spot of the Night:

Now, anyone who’s watched long enough knows that Solo jumped and onto crash pads or something…but…still…

Jobber of the Night:

AJ Styles for taking the ambulance ride.

Upset of the Night:

None.

Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:

Not on the show, but during the show…I hope this means he is sticking around, and maybe finally things click?

What would you do if Kross was AJ’s replacement? I mean…that would be a huge jump…and turn…but I don’t hate the idea…

Botch of the night:

Either the camera work, or Iyo Sky and Asuka.

Sky went for the moonsault, top rope to the floor. And she really didn’t hit Asuka, but as Sky landed, she and Asuka tumbled to the ground together.

Or at least that is how it looked to me on TV.

Then Waller and Butch didn’t execute the move putting Grayson to the outside all that cleanly.

Commentary of the night:

Nothing of note.

LOL Moment of the night:

This one made me laugh…

I like the layers here. Could Bobby go get another team?

If so…who?

Noteworthy Moment:

I love that WWE now has Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn using the notion that the women’s tag belts are cursed as an angle.

The whole mystic bit works for them…and ever since they dropped their NXT titles…well…why not.

On the heels of all the releases…still a few that didn’t go, and I am waiting for it.

Like, we’ve barely seen MVP and Omos, and neither seems to factor into whatever Lashley is doing…and they remain.

Overall lowlights:

i get it, John Cena is a big deal, AJ Styles is getting built back better and the Bloodline is the Bloodline.

That said, I think it was a mistake to put the women’s title match on before the tag match.

In my meaningless opionion, most title belts deserve a main event slot. On a PLE, only one can do that, but on a weekly show, we don’t often have two title defenses.

Overall highlights:

As much as I disliked the order of things…and really, nothing in the main event segment meant that no one could use the ring after…

The main event segment was good to get more heat on Jimmy and Solo and The Bloodline.

Also, it leaves us with a very big question. Will AJ Styles be the man to team with Cena at Fastlane?

Or, if not AJ…who?

After the final bell:

It feels weird to think we had like…three matches in two hours, but we got good matches and ended with a cliffhanger.

I would have shuffled things, but there is a reason why I write for this site and not for WWE…
