Eddie Kingston Reveals Injury

At Grand Slam, Eddie Kingston and Claudio Castagnoli met in a title vs title match. Kingston walked away the victor, keeping his NJPW Strong Openweight Championship and also wining the Ring of Honor Championship.

Besides walking out he victor, Kingston was finally able to get the better of Claudio. These two have legit heat that dates back about a decade ago.

It sounds like Kingston will be able to defend both belts, although he is taking some time off from the indy scene. In an Instagram post, Kingston reveled he has a back injury.

“Due to being NJPW Strong Openweight and ROH Champion I have to come to the hard decision that I will have to stop doing Independents,” said Kingston. “Dealing with a lower back injury right now that I need to get fixed [and will].”

“So. I can be ready for all NJPW strong shows and all three AEW shows. When my responsibilities as NJPW and ROH champion is over, I will hopefully be able to do Independents again.”

“I apologize to all. But, I just need to focus and my body needs to be ready for those shows.”

It is unfortunate that Kingston is dealing with an injury, but he remains positive. Considering how packed his schedule sits, only working AEW and NJPW seems fair.

He worked hard for both titles, which should result in a nice run with both companies. Please, let the man bask in all his hard-work for the past three decades.
