Roman Reigns defended his Undisputed Universal title against Jey Uso this past Saturday during the 2023 WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event (PLE). Now, reports have surfaced that indicate the champion could be injured.
Details On Roman Reigns’ Injury
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, there is word that Undisputed Universal Champion was injured early on during his SummerSlam bout. Despite this, he finished the match.
Meltzer didn’t report what injury the Tribal Chief is dealing with. He also didn’t offer additional information on the severity of his condition.
As of this writing, the Champ is still scheduled for this week’s Friday Night SmackDown, where he’s set to come face-to-face with Jimmy Uso. While he was unable to confirm this, Meltzer notes that he “presumes” the Tribal Chief will be at the WWE Survivor Series taking place on November 25th of this year.

Still, he was unable to confirm these details. In addition, Dave states that he is not sure if the Champion will appear at the next two company PLEs, Payback, scheduled for September 2nd, and Fastlane, which takes place a month later on October 7th.
Roman’s Record-Breaking WWE Championship Run
During his SummerSlam bout, The Big Dog scored a win when Jimmy turned on Jey, offering up the interference he needed to retain his title. With this victory, Reigns continues his record-breaking run as Universal Champion.

His title run is the longest since Hulk Hogan’s, circa the mid-80s. He’s surpassed CM Punk’s modern-day era WWE Championship streak that lasted 434 days.
The leader of the Bloodline scored the Universal title in August 2020 at SummerSlam, and the WWE title at WrestleMania 38. He’s been unstoppable since his return to the company, three years ago.
Here’s hoping an injury won’t spoil his momentum. Only time will tell.
