CM Punk recently had an interview and talked about all that Darby Allin has to offer AEW. That is if he doesn’t destroy himself from all his over-the-top stunts, first.
CM Punk Believes In Darby Allin
Punk entered All Elite Wrestling in 2021, and selected Darby Allin as his first in-ring opponent. Chatting with SI.com recently, the former WWE Champion talked about the young AEW star.
He notes that Darby has that “It” factor, and a ton to offer. That is, as long as he doesn’t “kill” himself by jumping over his house in a monster truck, or something along those lines.
Both AEW stars will perform in this weekend’s All In, taking place at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Samoa Joe will challenge Punk for his “real” AEW World title and Allin will team up with Sting to face Swerve Strickland and AR Fox in a tag team Coffin Match.
Since entering the company in 2019, Darby has been well-featured on AEW. While he had been previously offered a deal by WWE, he turned it down, believing that he would spend his time there on the sidelines.
Still, he is famous for his risk-taking moves. Last summer, he jumped a jeep over his house, calling it the “sketchiest” stunt he’s done.
Meanwhile the month prior to that, he attempted a backflip while on a trike at the Nitro Circus event and was unsuccessful. He’s recently revealed that he wants to climb Mt. Everest, too.
Still, he has not offered a timeline on when he plans to begin this journey. At the age of 30, Allin has been wrestling since 2014.
He entered the Indies circuit at that time and would eventually land in AEW five years later. Since becoming All Elite, he’s had two separate runs with the TNT Championship.
