Why Becky Lynch Vs Trish Stratus Isn’t Booked For SummerSlam
At the start of the year, we heard talk of Becky Lynch vs Trish Stratus taking place. Those rumors turned out to be true and they have been working opposite each for a few months.
They way the angle has been going, a conclusion at SummerSlam made sense. Then, on Monday’s RAW, we learned the contest will take place later in the month.
Both women are healthy and could compete at SummerSlam. Although, they will not be wrestling as WWE has them booked for RAW from Canada.
Sean Sapp of FightFul reports how the change has to do with premium live events. Basically, WWE is looking at how they build these shows.
In the past, an average show lasted three hours and the larger ones could reach seven hours. The idea is for better overall timing of the premium live events, which means less matches so those advertised get plenty of attention.
The angle between the two started around February. Lynch and Lita were challenging Damage CTRL, but short on the numbers. Hence, Stratus enters the picture and the three win at WrestleMania 39.
Weeks later, Lita was attacked backstage at RAW. Status replaced her and teamed with Lynch as the Women’s Tag Team Champions. They dropped the gold and Stratus then officially turned heel.
Becky Lynch vs Trish Stratus already took place once at Night of Champions. Stratus walked away from Saudi Arabia with the victory thanks to Zoey Stark. The three met again, this time as part of the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
Still, Becky Lynch vs Trish Stratus from RAW works as the show is coming from Canada. It will be interesting if the crowd cheers the local hero, Stratus, and heckle Lynch.
