SmackDown Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley vs. Natalya

Imagine traveling to the other side of the world to lose in about a minute. It makes not sense.

Natalya was not going to defeat Rhea Ripley, but she was squashed and on her birthday. WWE should have booked the match for at least five minutes.

The WWE Night Of Champions 2023 report card took a major hit here as there were no winners in this match. Ripley and Natalya were booked in a horrible way. Grade: D

Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus

Before the current generation of WWE female superstars, there was Trish Stratus and Lita. Unfortunately, WWE did not feature them as two of the biggest stars in the company.

We have seen Stratus and Lita retire, only for them return. This time, Status played the heel and she continues to look like a shell of herself.

Stratus winning was bit surprising, but it is nice to see Zoey Stark getting a massive push. The recent WWE draft saw several names join the main roster from NXT and Stark was one of the more exciting picks. Grade: C+

World Heavyweight Championship: Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. AJ Styles

With Roman Reigns being the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion for 1,000 days, there was a need to introduce another title. WWE held a tournament, which concluded with Seth “Freakin” Rollins against AJ Styles.

When looking at the WWE roster, Rollins and Styles might be the two best inside the ring. So, there was lots of pressure on both superstars.

Honestly, there was nothing from the match that stood-out as this should have stole the WWE Night Of Champions 2023 report card. You imagine something phenomenal from these with such a prize on the line and it was simply not there. Grade: B

RAW Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair vs. Asuka

There was a time when nobody could beat Asuka. Then, she went to the main roster and seemingly become an afterthought.

Bianca Belair was a good champion, but I feel fans were getting tired of her with gold the past two years. Perhaps, a heel turn is desperately needed.

Asuka used her mist in a unique way, which might pay homage to WWE Hall of Famer, The Great Muta. Asuka ends the longest women’s title reign in modern history and finally is once again champion on the main roster; in what was the biggest surprise from the WWE Night Of Champions 2023 report card. Grade: B

Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship: Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens vs. The Bloodline (Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa)

I was not sure how the crowd would treat Sami Zayn, but he was accepted. And, they showed him plenty of love.

Roman Reigns entered the match on day 1,000 of his historic title run. So, the big night did not go as planned considering he was unable to leave with even more gold.

The Bloodline is at its weakest point since being created. The stable will continue to splinter heading into Money In The Bank and SummerSlam. Grade: B

Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar

In a rematch from Backlash, Cody Rhodes wanted to see if he could conquer “The Beast” again. The biggest difference was Rhodes only had one good arm.

The match saw Rhodes use the brace, with Brock Lesnar focusing on the injury. I thought the Backlash match was better, but it was close.

Rhodes never tapped and that sets-up a trilogy down the line. My guess, is they finish their business at SummerSlam. Grade: B

Intercontinental Championship: GUNTHER vs. Mustafa Ali

For close to a year, nobody has been able to stop GUNTHER. It seems like a lock that GUNTHER will hold the Intercontinental Championship for a year.

WWE has not much with Mustafa Ali the last few years, but it never slows his aggression. In one of the better matches, Ali made GUNTHER work.

GUNTHER was a heavy favorite heading into the match, but Ali made fans believe. If anything, WWE needs to push Ali. Grade: A-
