Earlier this year, Vince McMahon announced the merger between the UFC and WWE under the Endeavor umbrella. Recently, Hulk Hogan revealed that he and VKM could have purchased the combat sport company, at one point in time.
Hulk Hogan “Regrets” Not Buying UFC With Vince McMahon
The Hulkster was on the This Past Weekend podcast and provided an interesting tidbit of information. The fact that he and Vincent Kennedy McMahon had the opportunity to buy the UFC, a long time ago.
Of course, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer passed on the deal. He notes the idea was presented to him during a time before referees would stop matches, and people were being kicked while on the ground.
The iconic wrestling legend states that it was a “huge mistake” not buying the UFC with VKM. But he does note that it “just was so violent” when the deal was brought to them.
Hindsight is 20/20. Who knows what would’ve happened if McMahon and Hogan had purchased the organization at that point in time?
Some years back, Hulk revealed that he was presented a spot to compete in the UFC, during their early days. With that being said, the co-creator of the organization, Campbell McLaren, denied the claims via social media.
He stated that he “never” wanted the Immortal One in the original combat company. He also added that he never reached out to the WWE superstar.
Meanwhile, Endeavor’s purchase of the WWE, with plans to merge it with UFC was announced shortly after the company’s flagship event this year, WrestleMania 39. In the media release, Vince states the new organization would become a $21+ billion-dollar live sports and entertainment “powerhouse”.
According to reports, the new company will go public on the stock exchange before 2023 comes to an end. Only time will tell.
