When Vince McMahon purchased the WWE, he made dramatic changes. He wanted to turn the business from local to global and he did just that.

When building up the WWE in the 1980s, he had Hulk Hogan as the top star. Hogan would then become one of the most recognized names in all of TV.

Hogan turns 70 this summer and is still searching for a final match. While on “The MMA Hour,” Hogan claimed he got a call from Shane McMahon.

Basically, Shane was gauging to see if Hogan wanted to put something together for WrestleMania 39. In the end, Hulk Hogan turned down a WrestleMania 39 match because his body could not take any bumps.

“[Shane] goes ‘Hey, you got one more in you, old man?'” Said Hogan. “I said ‘Take it easy with the old man stuff, brother […] What do you want to do?’”

“He said ‘All you got to do is stand in the middle of the ring, and I’ll come to you.’ I said ‘Well right now, my back needs a little more work. But that’s something we can talk about next year.'”

Shane did compete at WrestleMania 39. He took on The Miz in an impromptu match.

Within like a minute, Shane tore his quad muscle. Snoop Dogg was present and he took Shane’s spot. For thinking so quick and making such a memorable moment, Snoop was highly praised.

After Hulk Hogan turned down a WrestleMania 39 match, he was still looking for one paycheck from WWE.

“I have always wanted to have a retirement match,” said Hogan. “I’m not moving around the way I should be.”

“So I’m going to keep working, keep training, and keep doing rehab and see where I am about six months from now. All I’ve found out from the wrestling business, brother, is never say never.”

At this point, nobody wants to see Hogan wrestle again. Like Ric Flair, he cannot seem to deal with life outside of being an active wrestler or pass on the money.

Hogan’s last WWE match goes back to SummerSlam 2006, where he defeated Randy Orton. He wrestled a few times afterwards, with the last being in 2012 for Impact Wrestling.
