As per a new report, former AEW World Champion Adam Page is negotiating a new deal with the company. Meanwhile, Shawn Spears is looking towards retirement but does have one major goal in mind before doing so.
Adam Page AEW Update
Adam Page is known as an “AEW Original”. He was one of the first talents to sign with the company when it debuted in January 2019.

With that said, unlike Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega, he was never named as an EVP of the promotion. Still, he’s climbed his way up to the top as a major star for the company over the years.
Adam Page AEW Update – Negotiating Deal
According to Fightful Select, he is currently in the middle of contract negotiations with AEW. While no timeline was given around an official signing, the report notes that negotiations began fairly recently.
The report adds that he is being represented by the same agency as The Elite faction. It’s important to note that the three members of this stable – Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jason) – have not renewed with AEW as of yet.
This negotiation of his AEW deal comes as CM Punk looks to return to All Elite Wrestling. For those that recall, Punk has some serious animosity toward Page in real life.
Adam was defeated by CM Punk for the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing, last May. During his time with the promotion, he’s also held the World Tag Titles, with Kenny Omega.
Will he re-sign with AEW? Only time will tell.
Over to other news, now that Shawn Spears has a little one at home, he’s looking towards retiring from the ring. He just has one small golden step to go through to get there.
Shawn Spears Retirement Goals
Spears made a return to AEW television last week during Rampage. He faced off against Jack “Jungle Boy” Perry and lost the match.
This was his first bout since taking a brief hiatus from the squared circle. The 42-year-old had been absent from AEW TV since last October.
Shawn Spears recently visited the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast and talked about his wrestling future. The 42-year-old states during the interview that he “doesn’t want to” wrestle that much longer.
He clarifies that he’s in great shape health-wise and he’s not being “forced” out of wrestling. However, before he hangs up his boot to in-ring competition, there is one thing he wants to accomplish.
Shawn Spears Wants Win Gold
During the interview, Spears acknowledges that he’s yet to win a title in any major promotion he’s been in. He has a career that spans 21 years, so it’s understandable that he’d want to hit this goal before he retires.
Spears goes on to note that his favorite photo is a picture of the late Brodie Lee with his AEW TNT Championship, along with his two sons. Shawn states that the look on Lee’s face showcases what a special moment it was for Brodie.
Spears also states that the picture is a beautiful moment with Lee and his kids. Shawn reveals that he’s jealous of the picture and he, too, wants a moment with his son, as the one Brodie Lee had.
On January 17th of this year, Spears and his wife Cassie Lee, also known as Peyton Royce in the WWE, welcomed Austin Jay Arneill into this world. Having children can certainly change anyone’s perspective.
Here’s hoping Shawn attains his goal of snagging some gold in AEW. Unfortunately, he’s been overlooked for championship opportunities in both All Elite Wrestling and during his time in the WWE.
