FTR retirement plans are sooner than fans think, and we have the full story. Plus, WWE apparently did not reach out to Gangrel for WrestleMania 39 plans.

FTR Retirement Plans Near

Wrestling Headlines is reporting that FTR will speak with Tony Schiavone on this week’s AEW Rampage. During the segment, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood will reveal that they’ve renewed their deals with the company for four years.

This means the AEW World Tag Champions will be All Elite for at least until early 2027. In addition, FTR dropped a retirement bombshell.

FTR Retirement Plans Near – Closer Than Fans Think

During the interview, Cash notes that he and Dax plan to retire from in-ring action when their AEW deals expire. The tag team was granted several months for a hiatus by Tony Khan, earlier in 2023.

They made a splashing return in early March during AEW Revolution. It was at this time that they confronted The Gunns.

Fast forward about a month, and FTR won a Careers versus Titles bout on AEW Dynamite, snagging the championships from The Gunns on April 5th. It’s great to see them back on top of the division once again.

During his FTR podcast this week, Harwood confirmed that he and his tag partner have once again signed with All Elite Wrestling. He notes the two are sticking with the company because it is what’s best for them and their families.

He also reveals that the relationship with Tony Khan is one of the reasons they chose to re-sign with AEW. It’ll be interesting to see what the tag team does with All Elite over the next four years.

Over to some WWE news, a highlight of WrestleMania 39 was certainly the Hell in a Cell (HIAC) match between “The Demon” Finn Balor and Edge. However, how cool would it have been if Gangrel was in the mix?

Gangrel – WrestleMania 39

Gangrel recently had an interview with Refin’ It Up With Brian Hebner. Fightful reports that during that chat the former WWE superstar reveals he was never contacted by the company to appear along with Edge at WrestleMania 39.

Rumors began to buzz that Gangrel was set to appear on the Grandest Stage of Them All. There was even speculation that he was in the area that night.

Still, as the WWE Universe knows by now, Gangrel wasn’t a part of ‘Mania that weekend. According to the former wrestler, the WWE may have talked about bringing him back, but he was never contacted.

He notes that he did “read” things and other people were calling him, asking him about it. He ended up writing Adam Copeland (Edge) asking him if he knew where the rumor started.

Edge Went Up To Bat For Gangrel

Edge would reply to Gangrel stating (joking) that “these writers” think they “know everything”. Gangrel notes that he tried to tell a writer that he wasn’t going to be at WM 39, but the story ran anyways.

The former WWE star notes that “to be fair”, him being a part of WM 39 may have been “pitched” it just “never happened”. He doesn’t know anything about it and the WWE never contacted him.

However, Gangrel also states that Edge is “always” pitching something to the WWE for him. Gangrel says he “thinks” Edge pitched SummerSlam for him, but it got shot down.

Gangrel formed an interesting faction in the late 1990s with Edge and Christian known as “The Brood”. The trio was also temporarily aligned with The Undertaker’s Ministry of Darkness stable.

Edge and his WM 39 entrance were certainly inspired by his ‘90s “Brood” roots. It would’ve been nice to see Gangrel by his side.

But could Gangrel make a WWE return in the future? Only time will tell.
