Let’s get into our SmackDown results for November 8th, 2024, with the blue brand back from the Middle East and spending time in Buffalo.

Quick Results:

  • Bayley defeats Candice LeRae
  • Ciampa defeated Pretty Deadly. Yes, it was actually DIY, but a ticked off Ciampa wouldn’t even tag in Gargano.
  • Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill defeat Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton. We had some outside interference from both Candice LeRae as well as Naomi before the ending.
  • Motor City Machine Guns defeat A-Town Down Under

Best Match:

I have to say each match had a point. So, with that in mind, every match was at least good. I enjoy the Machine Guns so far, so I will take the main event match as best of the night.

But being honest, the opening segment, Owens/Orton segment and final segment were all bigger events.

Worst Match:

Nothing for me to complain about tonight.

Noteworthy Moments:

Johnny Gargano gives some love to the Motor City Machine Guns. It does not sit well with Ciampa. He says they stole their spot and their belts. DIY split basically confirmed.

We finally have one women’s mid-card championship, the Women’s United States Championship. Seems likely that a similar title will show up on RAW soon. One downside to this? Yes, it mirrors the current men’s title. But that belt is a major bummer. Knowing that they just made the new women’s title match it, I guess we are stuck with it for more time.

Holy S!@# Moments:

The segment between Orton and Owens. Keeping them apart as long as they could. Then Kevin Owens nails Randy Orton with a piledriver. This one was sold as vicious, with Graves and Cole doing a great job of stressing that the move was banned for a reason. What I wonder now is, does WWE use this to hold Orton/Owens until 2025?

Lowlights:

The design of the women’s United States Championship.

Solo was terrible on the mic tonight in such a big moment. Only thing worse? For such a big match, for such hype? Saying WarGames out loud, finally setting up the five on five? The crowd was not as pumped as I would have expected. Or, it did not come through on television. They did warm up finally.

Highlights:

Hot take: Jacob Fatu was better on the mic than Solo Sikoa tonight.

The women have the first of hopefully two mid-card titles. What took so long?!

Finally getting the original Bloodline (almost entirely) back together. Just one guy missing.

Big question now? Solo said Roman and four guys against him and four. But, he assumed he had Sami (spoiler? He does not). So, will it still be five on five, with each side finding a fifth? Or will we go four on four as things currently stand? I honestly hope we go for five, and that both sides keep things a bit of a surprise. Maybe Heyman comes back in a week or two and says he as the Wise Man will find a fifth suitable for war.

After The Final Bell:

With three weeks to go, the official build to WarGames is on. That’s it. That has me excited.
