When it comes to Sting vs Undertaker never happening, it seems people are now pointing the finger at former WWE boss Vince McMahon.
Many fans for many years dreamed about a match between The Undertaker and Sting, who finally retired from the ring earlier this month. When WWE and WCW were battling on Monday nights this eas never going to happen because both men were in competitive companies. But when Vince McMahon bought WCW it opened up the possibility that it could happen. But it never did.
Why? The Undertaker says Vince McMahon didn’t want the match. On his Six Feet Under Podcast, The Undertaker said that the dream match never happened because the boss didn’t want it to happen. The Undertaker also said that he did not think that the match would have lived up to the hype.

He Just Didn’t Feel It
“That would have been huge box office,” Undertaker said. “It just didn’t work out. He had a short run in WWE and Vince didn’t want it. For whatever reason, I don’t know what it was. He just didn’t feel it. Everybody else was like, ‘People have been clamoring for this match for quite a few years.’ A year or two into that character change, people were already sending me artwork with the billboard or poster. It just never worked out.”
“Then, when he got there, the match would have been good, but I don’t think it would have lived up to the expectations that people have for it. People always think about things in a certain sense. I think they thought in their mind of Undertaker 2007-2008 vs. Sting. It was later on than that. I can say, I was way on the backside of what I was going to do when he got there.”
Why did Vince McMahon not want this match? It writes itself. That’s an answer fans will probably never know.
