It has been almost 25 years since Owen Hart passed away at Over The Edge. He was being lowered into the ring when the equipment malfunctioned and he fell something like 60 feet, hitting the ring post. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Some wrestlers in the back, said he was already gone before being loaded into the ambulance.

Vince McMahon’s decision to let the show continue has caused debate until today. In the Vince McMahon Netflix documentary, he went why the pay per view continued. “We wondered whether or not, ‘could Owen be alive? Truly he could be,’” said McMahon. “The decision that basically I had to make (after learning  Owen had died) was whether or not the show goes on. The live audience didn’t really see what happened. Had they seen, there’s no question about it, you have to shut the show down. Those people came to see a show. They didn’t come to see somebody die. And me as a businessman, it’s like, ‘okay, let’s continue on. Let’s continue the show.’”

The result saw lawsuits filed from Martha Hart. To this day, she wants nothing to do with the WWE and the same goes for her late husband’s image. Even Bret Hart has wished Martha would allow Owen to enter the WWE Hall of Fame. Instead, Martha has worked the past years in AEW, where they have a male and female tournament in memory of the late wrestler.

Vince is blacklisted from WWE for claims he took part in sexual harassment, rape and human trafficking. There is a strong chance he faces legal consequences in the future. Since being basically forced out of WWE, Vince has been silent. He made a rare statement this week, slamming the Netflix documentary. So, do you believe what Vince McMahon says about the night Owen Hart died?
