WWE announced a few months back that the city of Indianapolis, Indiana, would be playing host to several major premium live events over the next few years. The city has, long ago, hosted WrestleMania once prior. The first premium live event off the board? That would be the 2025 Royal Rumble. And, when the company made the announcement, Indiana Pacers star Ty Haliburton was a fixture, giving the city a face to help appeal to fans. We’ve even seen Haliburton and New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson tease some WWE physicality.
Now Haliburton teases a Royal Rumble entry
The tease was shared on social media by Landon Buford. See for yourself below:
So, the easiest point here? Logistically, it is absolutely possible. Haliburton has a basketball game in Indy the same day, before the Royal Rumble. Barring injury or a crazy number of overtimes? Haliburton should be able to get to LucasOil Stadium in plenty of time. So, in terms of possible? Yes, Haliburton could be in the 2025 Royal Rumble. But I will argue that he should not be.

The Royal Rumble, except for one time, has allowed 30 Superstars to have a shot at the biggest match on the biggest show of WWE’s year. Sure, the winner is known in advance, and lately we’ve often had a pretty good idea of who will win. Which means 29 other Superstars are in there for fun and fodder. And often we get a handful of surprises-returns, debuts, cameos and the like. Bad Bunny, Pat McAfee, AJ Styles, just to name some. But I hated McAfee’s when he went in and eliminated himself. Wasting a Rumble spot should be a wrestling sin. Having someone like Ty Haliburton in the Rumble would be a waste. Have him appear, maybe have him work as a ringside presence for some other match? Sure. But there aren’t enough spots as it is, so spending one on an NBA guy? Hard pass here.
