This may fall under a Captain Obvious heading, but there is more speculation about the Survivor Series main event.

This isn’t exactly confirmation of the as-yet unannounced main event. But it’s more a reaffirming of what the most astute WWE fan could have figured out (and likely did) months ago. WWE is setting us up for a Bloodline Civil War to serve as the main event for this year’s Survivor Series. It was obvious once Solo Sikoa took over and reshaped his Bloodline, knowing that the Original Tribal Chief would return. It remained obvious once Reigns returned at SummerSlam. And on Friday’s SmackDown (and what was recorded for next Friday) we got three of the OG Bloodline on the same page.

Obvious plans are obvious

From that point on (and likely before), plenty have speculated about the WarGames match that will serve as the 2024 Survivor Series main event. The expectation has been some grouping of Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Jacob Fatu, versus Roman Reigns, Jimmy and Jey Uso and at least one more. The question has been who. And would it really just be one more.

Many speculated that we’d see Sami Zayn, the Honorary Uce himself, return to side with Jimmy, Jey and Roman. Last we saw Sami on RAW, he had come up short against Gunther and was searching for “what’s next. And according to Dave Meltzer and the Wrestling Observer, the plan has been and remains exactly that. But here’s the hitch in things, in my opinion.

WWE has never run a main roster WarGames match as a four on four affair. NXT always did. But ever since WWE grabbed the revived concept for the Survivor Series PLE? It’s given us a five on five format. When the Bloodline was in it before? That was Roman, Jimmy, Jey, Sami and Solo. So, as much as it does seem likely that Sami is going to enter the Match Beyond once again, I still expect a fifth on both sides. We do know that The Rock may be pulling Solo’s strings, so could he be the fifth? And we also know that there are more Bloodline family members working their way toward WWE. Could we get teams heading to Vancouver with undecided fifth members? It has been a long time since we had a surprise team member or debut at Survivor Series.
