A former member of WWE management suggested this week that if Miro were to get his release from AEW and return to WWE, he would need to take a serious pay cut.

This has not been a good week when it comes to news about the AEW roster. The most notable story that came out was rumors that former tag and trios champions Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo had signed contracts and were headed to WWE. There were also reports this week that the No. 1 company in pro wrestling is very interested in Daniel Garcia if he also hits the open market.

However, that wasn’t the only big story. On Friday Fightful reported that former WWE talent Miro had requested a release from All Elite Wrestling. The one-time TNT champion has not been on television since December. And was rarely seen for much of 2023 due to injuries and creative differences.

Once the news broke, speculation quickly began that he could go back to his former employer. However, during a new edition of Sportskeeda’sSmack Talk” podcast, former WWE booker and manager Dutch Mantel claimed the man once known as Rusev would have to make a notable sacrifice to return to the company.

I don’t blame Miro, but do you think he’d get the same money from WWE? I don’t think so. What’s he getting from AEW?” he said.

Rumors about Miro’s current AEW contract claimed he had a deal that paid him seven figures a year. It is a sizable sum for a very talented performer who has had mixed results during his career. While WWE is doing the biggest business in the company’s history, they are smart with their money and are unlikely to match that deal.

Especially since they will have all the leverage and won’t be in a bidding war with AEW for Miro’s services. Nevertheless, he may feel the pay cut is worth it to be happy where he is working.
