A new AEW rumor claims a notable star recently requested his release from the company.
The last few years have been a very interesting time for AEW. There is no doubt they are the No. 2 company in the professional wrestling business. However, the bloom seems to be off the rose and the honeymoon with many wrestling fans is over.

After having a rapid and impressive rise as they garnered large crowds around North America and solid ratings on television, the AEW product has seen a major dip in ticket sales and ratings over the last two years. It is an alarming trend that reportedly has worried some on the roster.
Furthermore, there are also many criticisms about AEW’s creative and how the roster is used. It has created rumblings of unrest in the locker room and speculation of wrestlers jumping ship to WWE. On Thursday it was reported that former AEW tag champs Rey Fenix and his brother Penta El Zero Miedo are WWE-bound. And there have been similar rumors about Ricky Starks, Hook, and Daniel Garcia.
Miro reportedly asks for AEW release
Well, you can add another talented performer to the list of AEW talent that could soon be departing. On Friday morning Fightful reported that “Miro has requested his release from AEW.” The WWE veteran formerly known as Rusev has not wrestled since December of last year. And was limited to just a few matches in 2023 due to injuries and no clear creative direction.
With WWE under new management, Miro may look to make the jump to his former employer if released. However, just because he asked for his departure does not mean he will get it. Several wrestlers reportedly looked for releases in 2022 but were not granted those requests. The demand could be a move to force the company to get him back on TV soon.
