It has happened before, and led to some all time great matches, so could we see one WWE tag team split again soon?

Now, with the added “again”, that may give it away. But, for those who might have missed SmackDown on Friday October 25, here’s a bit of a quick recap of what happened. Gargano and Ciampa, collectively #DIY, took on the recently arrived Motor City Machine Guns. The team that won that match would become #1 contenders. Their prize would be a future title shot at the Bloodline and their tag team titles.

Warning-some spoilers ahead

So the two long time partners, dating back to NXT, did their best. But the duo lost, at least in part because Johnny drilled Ciampa with a super kick when a Machine Gun ducked. Sabin and Shelley won, and then got their tag title match immediately following. And, if you missed it? You missed a big moment, with the Motor City Machine Guns capturing the tag titles. But, a bit lost in the noise was the possible implications of the misplaced kick.

And maybe it means the duo are splitting again. Or maybe it doesn’t. Anyone who watched their time in NXT would know that, if we are going that route, we will be getting some exceptional action. Assuming Triple H revives that magic, of course. And why are we thinking we could see a split of #DIY? Well, the man who got kicked posted an image to one of his social media accounts. What image, you ask? Oh, just the moment where his partner kicked him.

That doesn’t seem like someone happy about what happened. Nor does it seem like some accident that will just get swept under the rug. While I love them as a tag team, I fear that they won’t get another fair shake at the title. Or maybe the Guns give them a title shot, and following another loss, the team implodes? If we get Ciampa and Gargano feuding again, one thing is for sure. While they main evented a number of TakeOvers and became basically an NXT all time great feud, this one would likely be a mid-card feud. Nothing wrong with that, and we may be about to find out. And again, it wouldn’t be the first time this WWE tag team split, and they wouldn’t be the last either.
