When CM Punk left WWE a decade ago, it seemed like he was never coming back. Eventually, he did join AEW, but that was a total disaster. Punk was injured several times and suspend twice for backstage fights, with the second one resulting in his termination. Then, the unthinkable happened at last year’s Survivor Series. The show closed with Punk returning to WWE, as the building shook.
He was going to wrestle Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40 for the title. Although, he was injured in the Royal Rumble. He has only wrestled on TV twice, with both matches being Drew McIntyre. Since they are tied at wins, they will look to end the feud at Bad Blood inside Hell in a Cell.
Lots Of Options For CM Punk
After next week’s match concludes, the belief is both will move into other programs. While talking to KISS FM in Chicago, Punk listed names he wants to compete against. “It’s a fair mix of people that I’ve already been in the ring with and people that I haven’t,” said Punk. “Guys like Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes — there’s fun stuff to do there. But then there’s the crop of people that I’ve never been in the ring with. Chad Gable is one that really sticks out. I like watching Ludwig Kaiser. Gunther, obviously.”
The first several names he has met multiple times before. Matches with Gable, Kaiser and Gunther would be first-time encounters. A match with Gunther might be rough for Punk, as the champion is known for his massive blows. If Punk does want to meet Cena, it will have to happen in 2025 as he is retiring next year. Honestly, I am glad to see Punk move beyond McIntyre soon. The angle has been great, but too look because of injuries. So, which of the WWE opponents that CM Punk mentioned would you most like to see happen first?
