WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther vs. The Miz

For over 500 days, Gunther has been nearly unstoppable. The Miz was looking to tie the record for most Intercontinental Championship reigns, but he did not win.

Honestly, right now, I do not think anyone taking on Gunther has a chance. Still, they put on an entertaining contest with several close falls from The Miz.

This was a great example of what the The Miz brings to WWE, grabbing the attention of audience. Gunther simply used The Miz as another notch on his historic record reign. Grade: B

WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley vs. Zoey Stark

Even before the Royal Rumble way back in January, Rhea Ripley was set for major things. She won the Women’s Rumble Match and then the title in an amazing contest.

Zoey Stark was not going to be the one to dethrone on Rhea at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2023. Maybe, Liv Morgan gets that nod at WrestleMania 40.

I really enjoyed the match as Zoey was able to match Rhea’s strength. No surprise in the conclusion, but WWE made Zoey look strong, even in defeat. Grade: B

Dragon Lee vs. Santos Escobar

Initially, we were supposed to get Santos Escobar taking on Carlito after Rey Mysterio was injured. Then, on Friday’s SmackDown, Carlito was replaced by Dragon Lee.

They featured their Lucha Libre style, with both trying to get that coveted spot as the next Rey. Escobar is too old, but Dragon Lee fits the mold; as does Dominik Mysterio.

No surprise Escobar won as the feud is seemingly be dragged until Rey is ready in early 2024. Personally, Seeing Carlito in the match would have been my preference. Grade: B+

Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton

The biggest question before, during and after the match was Randy Orton. Fans were told earlier Orton, who has been out for around 16 months, was not at the arena.

As expected, the match was brutal. Still, fans wanted to know the status of Orton and we cannot ignore all the CM Punk chants.

By the conclusion of the Men’s WarGames, it did not matter where Orton sided. It was great to see him back after his career was in doubt and an amazing RKO for a return. Grade: A-

Women’s WarGames Match: Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair & Shotzi vs. Damage CTRL (Asuka, Bayley, Iyo Sky & Kairi Sane)

On paper, Damage CTRL had the advantage because of their time together. The faces have plenty of history wrestling in high-profile matches, especially Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.

Dakota Kai on the outside was a nice addition as she assisted her team, much like during the old-school WarGames Matches. Iyo Sky and Charlotte Flair easily had spots of the match for their moves off atop the cage.

Also, the fire extinguisher to counter Asuka’s mist was a nice addition to a hard-hitting affair. Greater opener, with the only slight surprise being how they did not boot or Bayley from Damage CTRL; or, even tease it. Grade: A-
