NXT has been on fire lately with a wealth of young talent showing a ton of promise for WWE‘s future. There was plenty of intrigue heading into NXT Vengeance Day with titles to defend and grudges to settle. Check out the results and grades below to see if WWE’s developmental brand was able to deliver a banger of a show on Valentine’s Day weekend.
Stephanie Vaquer vs. Fallon Henley (NXT Women’s North American Championship)
This was a nice pick to open the show as the crowd was red hot for Vaquer. And the result didn’t disappoint. This one went about exactly as you’d expect: a showcase for Vaquer with Fatal Influence doing their part to shine her up. Things were a bit sluggish at times, particularly when Henley was in control, with a couple of odd beats and filler. Probably because the result was a foregone conclusion. Once things got into the closing stretch, it picked up big time. Vaquer played her hits, took out the cronies outside and finished off the champ with a twisting moonsault for the win. She’s off to the races.
Result: Stephanie Vaquer def. Fallon Henley via pinfall. (New Champion!)
Grade: B
Josh Briggs & Yoshiki Inamura vs. Nathan Frazer & Axiom (NXT Tag Team Championship)
An under-appreciated factor in the recent success of NXT has been Nathan Frazer & Axiom. Rock-solid as tag team champs, they could always be counted on to put on a fun, athletic match. This was no different. The pleasant surprise here was the challengers. Briggs looks extremely motivated and was fantastic as the powerhouse of the bout. And Inamura has some of the most unique offense on the roster. He’s a welcome presence, for sure. The champions retained but they all walked out winners here in a quick but fun bout.
Result: Nathan Frazer & Axiom def. Josh Briggs & Yoshiki Inamura via pinfall
Grade: A-
After the match, the new group that had been teased over the last few weeks ran in and laid out everyone in the ring. Chants of “Who are you?!” rained down from the crowd. I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough but at least the quartet has made their presence known.

Trick Williams vs. Eddy Thorpe (Strap Match)
Gotta be honest, I haven’t been the biggest fan of Eddy Thorpe but he’s definitely grown on me. The way he leans into the hate he gets from the crowd (and there was a ton of that tonight) is great and has made him the perfect foil for the beloved Trick. The strap match stipulation was well-implemented with some gnarly shots traded between the two. An absolute shocker of a result here, with Thorpe getting the pin after a strap-assisted low blow. The crowd was legitimately stunned and, frankly, so was I. It does make sense though, as Trick has enough equity to take the loss. Meanwhile, Eddy will be absolutely insufferable and should get plenty of mileage from this.
Result: Eddy Thorpe def. Trick Williams via pinfall
Grade: B+
Je’Von Evans vs. Ethan Page
Great story heading into this one with the well-executed angle of Page breaking Evans’ jaw. Evans has such terrific underdog energy and this just ramps that up another level. They continued that story throughout the bout and this brought out a mean streak in the young star we hadn’t seen before. It was refreshing to see and an important evolution that shows he has layers to his game. And then there’s Page, who continues to pay dividends in his NXT tenure. His value has been immeasurable and this was another example as he locked down the win while making the young Evans look like a million bucks in the process.
Result: Ethan Page def. Je’Von Evans via pinfall
Grade: B+
Austin Theory vs. Grayson Waller vs. Oba Femi (NXT Championship Triple Threat Match)
This was a terrific use of Waller and Theory. Two very capable dudes who brought the ready-made intrigue of partners looking to outdo each other and come away with the championship. That, of course, left the door open for Femi who continues to look tremendous as the dominant champion. He truly is the total package. Fantastic action from all three as they kept up a frenetic pace throughout with action all around the ring. We got to the inevitable moment where the partners imploded and cost themselves the chance at a win and Femi retains. That was never really in doubt but the match delivered big time.
Result: Oba Femi def. Austin Theory and Grayson Waller via pinfall
Grade: A-
The mysterious new group made another appearance after the match, this time accompanied by flashing lights and theme music. They laid out Femi to stand tall yet again. Much better than their earlier appearance, so at least there’s that.

Bayley vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Cora Jade vs. Giulia (NXT Women’s Championship Fatal 4-Way Match)
Given the talent involved, the expectations were high for this one and they delivered a fantastic main event. This was a particularly important match for Cora Jade. The other three competitors have very well-established reputations at this point, so this was Jade’s chance to claim a bit of the spotlight for herself and she successfully did that. Bayley brought the talent and presence fans expect and Giulia looked like every bit the star she is. But man, I just can’t say enough about Roxanne. She is absolutely the goods and is so ready for the next level. All four women sparkled and re-cemented why the NXT women’s division is maybe the best around.
Result: Giulia def. Bayley, Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez via pinfall
Grade: A
The fans were treated to a couple of surprises after the bell as Stephanie Vaquer came down to the ring to celebrate with Giulia but were both interrupted by Jordynne Grace! I guess we officially know which brand Grace will be hanging around in for a while. Tuesday nights keep getting better and better.
